Directorate General For State Hydraulic Works is one of the Special Budgeted Public Institution which has been established in 1954 to prohibit above-ground water’ damages of Turkey and is responsible, incorporated to make use of them from various aspects for planning, managing and improving of water sources.
Directorate General For State Hydraulic Works has been authorized for supplying potable water to cities that popullation is more than 100 thousands with effectuated the law no 1053 in 3rd July of 1968. Directorate General For State Hydraulic Works with last amendment in the law no 1053 has been assigned to supply potable, using and industrial water to all settlements where Municipial Organization is situated and building waste water treatment and collaction plants in terms of necessary health and environment.
According to Directorate General For State Hydraulic Works in potable water treatment plants; in case applicable of pollution parametres of our raw water cause from invesment and operating costs much lower than other treatment methods, mostly conventian method is fulfilled in potable water treatment. However, have been regarding to changes on water quality, pressure filters (for arsenic removal) and reverse osmosis system too (roughness and heavy metal removal) have began used in portable treatment in case fail of convential treatment tecniques.
207 numbers of potable plants supply 3.88 billion cubic metres potable water to 42 billion people per year that set into operation conducted by Directorate General For State Hydraulic Works.
We are glad to have executed our targets in large measure with realized all potable water activities (transmission lines, treatment plants ect.). Our aim to omit settlements without potable water and supply to have available, confidential water for human healthy of all our public.
In the same manner, the neediness for ‘’Water’’ remaining rapidly and natural water sources wasting quickly depending on increasing population and developing industry. Therefore to supply recycling of waste water with managing controlled is became more of an issue. Especially, plan-project and constructional studies of Biological and Advanced Biological treatment plants of domestic waste water sources from settlements which scope of Havza Protection Action Paln we handle on the basis of Havza are continuing progressively in accordance with necessities and requests. Waste water can have been using in various areas as like Industrial, Agricultural Irrigation, park – garden irrigations.
Totally, 12 number of waste water treatment plants, 3 number of collector lines with 249.800 cubic metres/day capacity in Ergene Basin and 2 number of waste water collectors and treatment plants with 790 cubic metres/day capacity in other basins which set into operation between 2012 – 2107 years conducted by Directorate General For State Hydraulic Works have been completed. The activities of recycling for waste water have been accelerated.
1st International Potable Water and Waste Water Symposium will be done 0n 6 – 7 December of 2018 in Afyonkarahisar under the Honorary Presidency of Dr. Mr. Bekir PAKDEMİRLİ, President Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs by Directorate General For State Hydraulic Works for supplying productive and sustainable limited water sources which are increasing because of global warming, climate change and population growth for revealing developments in matter of potable and waste water systems’ design, operation, improving, protection and managing of water sources.
The studies about using effectively, productively and sustainably of water in potable water and waste water systems will be monitored, the developments in technology, encountered problems and their solutions will be discussed and the commited studies in the matter of ‘’Systems of Potable Water and Waste Water’’ with conceving platform for experience sharing will be contributed with gathering representatives of governments, public institutions, local administrations, local and foreign academics, representatives of private sector and consultants in Symposium.. I invite all stakeholders to cooperation and collaboration for combining of their efforts and experiences in this direction.
